Spiritual Revival Strikes Teens

God moved in the hearts of members of Consumed Student Ministries this weekend in powerful ways. The stories are too numerous to tell, but I will try to find time to enumerate them in the coming weeks. Tongues and Prophecy are going forth. This type of manifestation of the gifts is relatively new to many of our kids, and they didn't know how to deal with what was happening in them.

Since Winterfest our church office has been abuzz with the work that God is doing. Monday morning the Baptist school up the road called me. They said that two of my girls were speaking in tongues at school and they didn't know what to do. Also one girl in the local public school was speaking in tongues and the school sent her to the hospital.

My initial reaction was to rebuke the kids, until I later found out that several of the staff at the school were asking questions. One of the school administrators is religious and felt something in her spirit. She told the mother that she knew that God was moving on the student. The guidance counselor wants me to come to the school Thursday morning and talk to her (and possibly the other staff). I am trying to arrange for Reggie Dabbs to come to town.

I have talked to the kids involved about balance, and that God is a God of order. We will be studying 1 Corinthians 14 on the regulation of Spiritual Gifts. We want our faith not to focus on our experience, but to point to Christ.

Rejoice with me in what God is doing, but also pray for me and my team that we teach proper balance in spiritual things.

    Billie-

I have to say that coming from Charlottesville School District i think that what God is doing is indeed AMAZING but i do agree with you that an understanding of these gifts is much needed as well. obviously God is moving among us and THE BEST IS YET TO COME and i'm so excited about it! i love you billie and i thank God for the amazing ways He is using you to reach all of us, including me! i'm so excited to be a part of this experience.. now i have no question in my mind the reason why i'm still in Cville.. and i dont think i'll be doing any complaining anymore. God works in mysterious ways.. and i have to tell you-- my voice teacher here at pvcc asked me how i lost my voice and i told her.. and we started talking about the gift of tongues and etc.. and it was awesome to sit in a secular college and talk to a teacher about it. and i just have to say.. that i'm excited about tonight. and i'm looking forward to studying the word about this. God rocks, billie!

God's awesome power at Winterfest 2006 has made an impact on the youth, the mentors, the Covenant staff ... I believe His divine power will spread throughout our congregation & our community. For over a year now, I'd been discouraged ... fasting & praying over the youth group, asking God to remove the dissension, asking God "where's the love". A couple of months prior to Winterfest, I was finding myself unable to feel comfortable on Wed nights, unable to feel the Holy Spirit's presence, beginning to doubt my calling to work with the youth, feeling a heavy burden on my heart for a lack of unity. I began asking the counsel of godly friends, asking them to pray, bearing my concerns, not knowing what else to do, beginning to think that my prayers were just hitting the ceiling. Post Winterfest - Toni's right (& she should know, since she's one of the longest term youths in attendance) ... God is moving now more than ever! I've never personally witnessed such a massive spiritual revival. Your planning for serious prayer in preparation of Winterfest this year had to have been divinely ordained ... it worked! Boy, oh boy, my patience was practically gone (God, forgive me), but, God made up for it when we ALL IN UNISON CALLED UPON JESUS CHRIST to move in a mighty way! Answered prayer is the greatest blessing ever, short only to the gift of salvation itself - Praise the Lord! The manifestations of the gifts of the Spirit were an awesome wonder to experience & observe. My prayer is that the students will be given a hunger for God's Holy Word & remain walking with Him. You're right, follow-up will be important. Sorry I wasn't there today ... David had a kidney stone the size of my fingernail, so, I spent Sunday morning in the hospital with him. Regardless, I must give a praise report for several of my girls who were in my hotel room at Winterfest ... I followed up with them this week, gave one a ride to church Wed night, encouraged them to bring friends (one girl brought 5 friends to Covenant Wed), & I will continue to keep in touch with these young sisters in Christ. It was great to see even more students give their hearts to Jesus on Wed night! Yes, the gift of the tongues, etc, everything ... IT ALL MUST POINT TO CHRIST! I pray for a continued presence of the Lord, a spiritual growth in the current youth, & a population growth of new Christian youths. By the way, the music last Wed was a renewed quality in tone & volume, as well as, atmosphere to usher in God's presence. It was good to see you & your wife happy together at Winterfest, too ... yep, I noticed.

Hello Bill, this is Chrystal Cole from Texas. Toni and Nicole forwarded this site to me and I am just now getting a chance to read about Winterfest. I am so excited to hear of all the great things that God is doing in the youth ministry there. I read many of your entries (blogs) and have been blessed by doing so. I escpecially like the one about boys being scum and girls provoking it. I have printed it off to read to Eric. May God continue to bless all that you and Amanda do at Covenant. You all are in our prayers.
